Σερφάροντας στην ιστοσελίδα του IRB, ίσως να παραξενευτείτε από το γεγονός του οτι η Ελλάδα και η Κύπρος δεν βρίσκονται στην κατάταξη των χωρών.
Για την Κύπρο, η απάντηση είναι σύντομη: Ως νέα σχετικά Ομοσπονδία, η Κύπρος δεν είναι ακόμα τυπικά μέλος του IRB. Οπότε δεν βρίσκεται στην κατάταξη αλλά ούτε και στον κατάλογο μελών.
Η Ελλάδα, είναι μέλος του IRB. Σύμφωνα με τη λειτουργία της κατάταξης, οι νέες χώρες, μπαίνουν δοκιμαστικά στη θέση 40 και μετά από 10 αγώνες, αθροίζονται οι βαθμοί και η χώρα μπαίνει σε κανονική κατάταξη. Εδώ και χρόνια όμως, η πρακτική της αρχικής θέσης 40 δεν ακολουθείται. Έτσι, η Ελλάδα, μόλις συμπληρώσει δέκα αγώνες από την ένταξή της, αυτοί θα αξιολογηθούν και θα μπει στην κανονική κατάταξη.
Θεωρητικά, μια χώρα, μπορεί να φτάσει από την τελευταία θέση ως τις πρώτες, σε λιγότερα από 20 παιχνίδια.

While “surfing” in the IRB website, some may find strange the fact that Greece and Cyprus do not appear in the international ranking.
For Cyprus, the answer to the question “why” is short: Cyprus is a new Union and they are not IRB members yet.
Greece is already an IRB member. According to the way the rankings are formed, new member countries start with a rating of 40, and their rating is treated as provisional until they have played 10 matches. After that, the matches are counting so as to give ranking points to the country. In the last years, they are not putting a new Union to the 40th place but they wait for the 10 matches. The rankings are responsive to results and it is possible to get from the bottom to the top (and vice-versa) in less than 20 matches.
