Στις 28 Ιουλίου 2011, αποβίωσε στην οικία του στην Αγκέν της Γαλλίας, ένα από τα ιστορικότερα πρόσωπα του ευρωπαϊκού και του παγκόσμιου ράγκμπυ, ο Άλμπερτ Φεράς.
Ο Φεράς, έπαιξε second row και φτερό στις SU Agen και US Marmande. Εκλέχθηκε επτά φορές πρόεδρος της γαλλικής Ομοσπονδίας, από το 1968 ως το 1991. Υπήρξε επίσης Πρόεδρος του IRB από το 1979 και για οκτώ χρόνια (ήταν ο πρώτος Γάλλος πρόεδρος του IRB). Ακολούθως, το 1989 έγινε πρόεδρος της FIRA. Στα τέλη της δεκαετίας του ’70 ήταν αυτός που προώθησε την ιδέα του παγκοσμίου κυπέλλου ράγκμπυ.
Είναι ο δημιουργός του Ιδρύματος Άλμπερτ Φεράς, το οποίο ιδρύθηκε στα τέλη του ’90 για να βοηθά τους βαριά τραυματισμένους αθλητές του ράγκμπυ. Το ίδρυμα, στηρίζει επίσης τα ορφανά των αθλητών ράγκμπυ.
Το 2001, τιμήθηκε για την προσφορά του στο άθλημα και την ανάπτυξή του, από το IRB με το Vernon Pugh Award.
Γεννήθηκε στις 12 Αυγούστου 1917 στην Τονίν και όταν αποβίωσε ήταν σχεδόν 94 ετών!
Αξίζει τιμή και δόξα, στον σπουδαίο αυτό άνθρωπο του ράγκμπυ! Αιωνία του η μνήμη!
On July 28, 2011, one of the most historical persons of the European and international rugby, Albert Ferracce, died in his home in Agen France.
Ferracce played second row and wing in SU Agen and US Marmande. He was elected seven times as President of the French Rugby Federation, from 1968 to 1991. He was also President of the IRB for eight years, since 1979 (the first French President of the IRB). He chaired FIRA two years later, in 1989.. He advanced the idea of a Rugby World Cup in the late ‘70s. The Foundation Albert Ferrasse he created in late 1990 is still responsible for managing the consequences of serious accidents sometimes inherent in this sport. The Foundation also cares about the players’ orphaned children. In 2001, he received the Vernon Pugh Award of the International Rugby Board in recognition for his contribution to the development of rugby.
Ferrasse Albert , born on August 12, 1917 in Tonneins. When he died, he was almost 94 years old!
